Hello lovelies! Here’s my free crochet pattern, the Stargazer blanket. Well, I say blanket, however you can make it to suit any size, from doily, to baby blanket to bedspread!

This is one of my designs that was initially a bit of fun. One evening, I sat to crochet and watched it grow. I couldn’t help but notice how much it resembled a star.
The following evening, when I picked this fun project back up, it looked just like a lily! ) I think it depends on the angle you’re viewing it from.
Ahhh Stargazer Lilies. They always remind me of my Mum. Anyway, the name was therefore chosen and a new design born!
I opted for white and pinks. I have intermittently swapped the colors to blend them from one to the next. I hope my Mum likes it, because I’m dedicating this design to her.
Stargazer is not dissimilar to my other pattern, ‘Solstice’. It has the same rhythmic rounds of ripples as we so often see in nature. It’s only a 3-round pattern repeat, so once you’ve got the hang of it, you can easily keep going to make any size you like.
It’s also addictive too. The added color changes make it especially difficult to put down! I already plan on making another with a green/cream/red gradient to use as a Christmas tablecloth! Anyway, I digress…
I’ve chosen King Cole’s Big Value Recycled Cotton Aran after I enjoyed working with it for Solstice. It’s also animal-kind and environmentally friendly.

120cm (47¼”) across diameter from largest point to largest point, without blocking.
GAUGE
13 sts and 8 rows of dc to measure 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) using a 5mm hook or size required to obtain tension, without blocking.

Continue working in established pattern for another 15 rounds. That is, for the small points, work 2 rounds of V-st, followed by 1 round of shells. In the large points, always work shells. As usual, working dc stitches into each stitch, skipping 2 stitches between pointed sections.
You can refer to rounds 17-19, but increasing the number of dc stitches worked between the shells/V-stitches and the 2 skipped stitches. Use the ‘Round & Stitch Count Tracker’ provided below to check your progress and to see which color is worked for each round.

Blocking your blanket is a personal preference. I chose not to block mine, however if you choose to do so, you can see ‘Finished Measurements’ at the start of the pattern as a guide.
